Telecom backup batteries need to remain ready during standby and behave predictably during an outage. Their BMS specification should address charger coordination, monitoring, environmental conditions and maintenance access. A nominal “48 V” label alone does not establish compatibility with the site power system.
A productive customization discussion starts with a requirements document. Separate requested electrical changes from mechanical, protocol, firmware and branding changes. Each item needs a feasibility decision, a verification method and an agreed owner; a broad request for a “custom BMS” is difficult to quote or validate.

A reliable BMS installation begins with the exact wiring diagram, a controlled assembly process and independent verification. Connector appearance and wire colour are not sufficient identification. This review highlights common error categories without prescribing a universal connection order.
Parallel battery packs create a system-level engineering problem. Matching nominal voltage is not enough: current sharing, isolation, fault interruption, charge control and communication all need a reviewed design. Do not treat a communication cable as a substitute for electrical protection.
