A standalone balancer can be useful when a qualified battery design needs additional cell-group balancing capability. It is not an automatic cure for repeated voltage divergence. Start by checking the cells, measurements and existing balancing behaviour before adding another device.

A protection feature is defined by more than its name. To evaluate a BMS, ask what is measured, what condition triggers the response, how long detection takes and how the system recovers. Those details connect the device to the cells and surrounding equipment.
